Academics – State
Standards and Assessment

various grade levels. Testing is a means of verifying if a student is
meeting those standards. At the present time Bethany Lutheran School
tests every student in grades three through eight using the Terra Nova
standardized test.
Restraining Orders
- Restraining orders concerning biological parents can only be
honored by the school if the courts provide the school with a copy of
the order which is then placed in the student's file.
- Restraining orders for non-biological parents or legal guardians
will be honored upon request.
- Parents need to inform the school of any other concerns so that
their wishes can be carried out.
Human Services
According to state law each teacher is
required to report suspected neglect or abuse of children to Human
Services. Failure to do so can result in fines and arrest for teachers.
If a child comes to school and shares with a teacher that parents have
neglected the child's basic needs or hurt that child in any manner, a
report must be filed with Human Services within 24 hours. This will be
done without informing the parents. If you have any questions or
concerns about this procedure, please speak with the Principal.
