Pets at
School
Family pets should
not be brought to school. Many students suffer from allergies that can
be aggravated by having animals in the building. Liability issues also
arise over the safety of having animals in the building. Finally, the
care of our building with the carpeted floors is a concern.
One exception concerns a special brief period of
"show and tell." If a child wishes to show a pet at school, the parents
should first contact the classroom teacher and establish a proper time
for the pet to be shown. The teacher has the right to refuse this
request if it is felt there is a safety concern for the children.
