Discipline
Upon enrolling a
student at Bethany Lutheran School, the parents place the teachers into
a position of God's authority over their children. All discipline by
parents or teachers must be in keeping with the principles set forth in
Scripture. According to Proverbs 23:13 we cannot withhold correction
from our children out of love and concern for their spiritual and
physical welfare. Parents will be involved with and informed of all
major disciplinary actions taken by teachers with their children.
Corporal punishment is not used at Bethany in keeping with the laws of
the state. The school encourages parents to discipline their children
in a Christian manner that promotes the authority of the teachers in
the lives of their children. The school strives to be like a solid
Christian home where Christ rules supreme in all things.
A student's behavior outside of school and off
grounds can also result in action being taken by the Board of Education
and the Board of Elders if a student's behavior is injurious to the
mission of the church and school. Students from other schools who come
on the Bethany school grounds are also subject to the policies and
procedures of Bethany Lutheran School under the direction of the Board
of Education.
