When illegal drugs, alcohol, or smoking materials (matches, lighters, etc.) are found in a student's possession at school, action will be taken as follows:

1. *The parents will be notified immediately.
2. *The Manitowoc Police liaison officer will be called.
3. *The school will cooperate with the authorities (police) in every possible manner.
4. The name(s) of the student(s) will be brought to the Board of Education's attention.
5. For the first offense the Board will take the appropriate action. The student(s) will be suspended from participating in and attending all extra curricular activities at Bethany Lutheran School for four weeks.
6. For the second offense the Board will suspend the student(s) from participating in and attending all extra curricular activities connected to Bethany Lutheran School for the remainder of the year. The student(s) may be suspended from attending school as determined by the Board.
7. Additional offenses will result in suspension or expulsion from school according to the Board's discretion.
