Coaches for the various extra-curricular sports will be obtained through the congregation on a voluntary basis. The responsibility of choosing qualified coaches will belong to the Board of Education as a whole. The philosophy of the coaches must be in agreement with the philosophy of the school concerning the Athletic Program. The following criteria are an important part for a member to consider who would like to coach an athletic team at Bethany:

1. The coach must have a love for the students and not just a love for the sport.
2. The coach needs to be a member of Bethany or Grace Lutheran Church.
3. The coach needs to possess an understanding of and agreement with the philosophy of athletics for Bethany Lutheran School.
4. The coach must have a working knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport.
5. The coach needs to have an attitude that allows for participation by the team members rather than a "win at all costs" approach.
6. The coach must be willing to accept the authority of the Board of Education and the Principal.
