Those students
participating in interscholastic athletic activities represent their
Savior in all that they say and do. Since Bethany Lutheran School
strives to assist the students in making the best use of their
God-given talents and abilities, a program of athletic eligibility has
been established. Special needs and
abilities of the students will be taken into consideration:
Academic
Eligibility: The students are to use their God-given talents and
abilities in the area of academics to the best of their ability.
Students who acquire two D's or one F on a quarterly report card or
midterm report or do not function up to their level
of ability in the classroom become ineligible for
interscholastic sports activities for a period of two weeks.
Conduct
Eligibility:
- Any conduct not suitable for a Christian would make
a student ineligible for interscholastic sports.
- Regular church
attendance is a part of a Christian's life. Lack of regular church
attendance may cause a student to be ineligible for participation in
athletics.
- Use of tobacco products, alcohol, or illegal drugs will
make a student ineligible and may cause a suspension from
interscholastic athletics.
- Use of foul language during practices or
games will also result in removal from athletic activities.
- Any extreme
aggressive behavior could result in removal from athletics.
All
disciplinary actions will be handled by the coaches, administration,
and the Board of Education.
